 When We Started

Gilmore College was incorporated in 1989 by a high school teacher Zenaida Ferry, who was a graduate of the University of the Philippines, McGill University and Concordia University, and has an extensive working experience in four different businesses before becoming a business education teacher in the Montreal Catholic School Commission.

Gilmore College was designed to be a school devoted to the total development of an individual as well as to create a learning environment that promotes and enhances a person's potential to succeed in his/her personal and professional life.
Gilmore opened its doors to the public on November 1, 1989. It was first operated with an education permit, giving personal self-imporvement courses such as Image & Personality Development, Executive Secretarial Skills, Stress Management, Languages, until 1995 when its college permit was granted, authorizing it to offer Collegial Level Programmes (A.E.C.) such as: Office Systems Technology, Accounting & Automation, and International Trade.

Then in 1999, office systems technology courses were revamped, giving every college the freedom to design and choose its own programs and have them approved by the Quebec Ministry of Education. In 2003, Gilmore College has submitted for approval two new programs to replace the former A.E.C. in Office Systems Technology, namely, Office Systems Management and Micro-Edition and Hypermedia. These programs are designed to prepare an adult learner to work in any computerized office environment and be an office manager, executive assistant, webpage designer, bilingual secretary-receptionist, accounting technician, bookkeeper or accounting clerk.
